How about when you complete all the qusets and missions, you glow, like a boss or something. Kind of defering from the original idea, but wth.

I did read all the other posts and I understand why emotes will be a bad idea. Now I need you to explain to be what Gaile meant in those two lines above because you obviously know what she meant by it.

PS-I just want a farmers emote that flashes and says "Farmers Unite" or something like that, it doesn't have to keep changing with mroe exp. Maybe after you get 1 or 2 million exp you can get the "farmer's" emote!

How does that sound now?

-edit- i'm not sure legit players who simply get millions of exp from playing UW/FoW quests alot will appreciate being called 'farmers'

If they have done them already why are they doing them again over and over?
For experience you say, fantastic emote will be appreciated then.

Having 1mil exp just means you've farmed, unless I'm very wrong and you can get that much simply through gameplay (all missions + quests)?

So... I guess if you want a farmer on the team, then yeah, sure, an exp. emote would help.
doing all missions bonuses and quests and getting 15k armor and some FoW quests, SF quests will get you about a million(from quests + all the repeatedness to get everything)...I know that's about where I was before I started farming with my necro.

That I would support after all PvE is supposed to be about those. Give some people a reason to actually beat the game.

As to the skills suggestion that seems cool/useful too...but I still worry about the elitism and I would benefit from it so it's not just me worrying about looking bad personally

no, you're simply misconstruing what i said
guess some people enjoy playing the PvE game as opposed to solo farming/2 man UW

if you take into account the failure rates of PUGs to clear UW/FoW quests, it's not unimaginable to see them hitting over 2million exp

digressing a little here, but i guess the original topic of exp emotes has already been shot down, so no harm done

You already have all the "vanity items" to show how long you've been playing PvE. The reason there are PvP emotes is because PvP characters come and go like the wind, it's the only thing they have to give an indication as to how experienced they are.

This idea ranks along side the "PvEers should get $100,000 too!" one.

Lets put it another way: Do you want the BOT farmers to get all the best emotes? If it's based on experience, they will.

I signed off on this idea a while ago. I'd land in the undecided category now. My fear is that, much like PvP, Emote Elitism will creep into PvE with simular abandon:

"R9 group forming for SF farm; flash emote before I invite"

*shudders*

Not all "experienced" players are experienced. Think about the flak PvEers are giving PvPers who insist on rank in mission. The "because we didn't fame farm, we don't get into good groups" in HoH. PvE has managed to avoid most of this because there is no standard to measure who is good and who is bad. Once there is a way to chaeck, it will become a requirment to complete...and compete.

If its done (and from Gaile's comment, it is a forgone conclusion that it will be) then it needs to be based on something other than experience. Even then I fear newbs getting the short end when playing missions.

I think the only way to make it fair would be based on missions completed, or total damage dealt/amount of health healed averages, or something that couldn't be obtained by farming the living snot out of monsters.

After all, does proving that you can farm lots of exp prove you are an asset to a team? Not by a long shot.

Then again, /rank doesnt prove you're a great PvP'er either.

To be perfectly honest, if they do make a PvE "measuring stick", fine. if they don't, fine. There are better things to worry about

Well, so far FoW armor for PvE work exactly like a /rank for PvP...

But I certainly wouldn't mind getting a /rank like for PvE as well, now that GvG'er got a special cape.

Completely stupid. It's bad enough that every IWAY noob runs around thinking a deer is cool, be even worse when every bot and farmer can do the same.

Even if this PvE-Eote would just be used for Farming-groups, I still couldn't tell anyone how experience you are with a certain kind of Farming build or area. I mean, you could have made it all in FOW and have no idea of Tombs, but you could join an Sf-Team and tell them all what to do, cause you have the emote.
Really, I can see it:
1- Noob, you have under 1.000.000EXP, I know better.
2- I've been doing this run for 4 weeks, several times a day, and you did this run how often? 2-3 times?
1- Well, so? Doesn't matter cause I have the emote!
2-

You can buy gold off eBay to get fissure armor, you can't buy experience off eBay. Bots don't count.
